Our students were off to a very creative start this school year. We began the year by creating a collaborative Motivational Mosaic Mural to encourage the students to work together. Students each had the opportunity to complete a piece of the Mosaic using analogous colors, and patterns. They did not know what the mural was going to look like until all the pieces were placed in their designated spot on the mural. Looking forward to sharing more of our students' art work!!

We Can Do It!!Yes we can!… Recycling that is!… This year the East Williston School District has been invited again to participate in the Town of North Hempstead 6th Annual Recycled Art Contest. Contest winner's artwork will be displayed at the Yes We Can Community Center in Westbury with a reception on December 8th. ALL students are encouraged to participate in any way they can. The Willets Road School Art Club will be creating a collaborative group piece. We meet on mondays after school, so if any Willets Road students are interested in helping with our recycled art project, make sure your club permission slip is handed in and join us. Students from K-12 may also enter a recycled art work individually, if interested please read the information below, fill out an entry release form and be sure to submit your art work to an art teacher before November 14th so that it can be delivered by the deadline. ANYONE can help and become a contributor to our recycled art simply by collecting recycled materials and bringing them to Ms. Gomez' art room. Please no GLASS and make sure all materials are clean. We are especially looking for Magazines, colorful plastics, buttons, beads, denim and colorful cardboards like cereal or pasta boxes etc. Contact me if you have any questions. -Ms. Gomez DOWNLOAD THE RELEASE FORM BELOW
Our first week back at school was great! I want to thank everyone who helped to make my transition such a delightful one. On the first day of art class at Willets Road we not only spoke about the classroom rules and expectations but we got to talking about all the things that ART is. It was amazing to hear what the kids had to say about what Art is and share examples of things all around us that are influenced by ART. I had them continue the quote, "Art colors life and..." on a leaf for the tree that adorns the outside of my classroom door. They did a fabulous job adding color and life to our ART tree!! I look forward to our creative growth throughout the school year. |
