I have taught Studio in Art almost every year since I began my teaching career. Here are examples of some of the beautiful works created by the many budding artists that I have had the pleasure of teaching.
Course Overview
Studio in Art is a full year, foundations art course that satisfies NYS Education requirement of one credit in the Arts. It is also a prerequisite for those students who wish to take Art electives or advanced Art courses. This introduction to the visual arts makes students aware of their creative potential, stimulates them to observe their environment, and equips them with a strong visual vocabulary to help communicate their ideas. Color, design, various media & methods of drawing & painting are explored. Students will learn about and use the Elements & Principles of Art & Design & develop their knowledge of Art History. In addition, Students will learn to create, appreciate, evaluate & relate art to other subjects & their lives through participation in class/group discussions, critiques & written assignments.
